The C was always a problem using the USB port and they never wanted to solve the problem other than releasing a new scanner.

It’s up to HP whether they support their discontinued products for Vista, but you might like to try Vuescan http: The software didn’t like Vista and HP didn’t issue an updated driver for Vista – so it has sat on my desk for the last n years, simply taking up space. Thanks for your posting.
The ScanJet doesn’t have a power switch and the front button doesn’t work without the HP software running on a computer. HP scanjet with W7 Pro x64 I use to own a lot of HP products but one by one they end up in the trash vizta for different reasons.
You can use the vuescan application which is pretty good, but make sure you purchase it when the trial runs out. The Hamrick Software worked like a char with no trouble what so ever. For what this OS is going to cost, I question if I also have to change some hardware.

Sunday, April 13, Thursday, January 31, Hi Folks, I hope that someone can help me out with this I remember when it was released, it screwed up badly W2K where you had to re-install the OS after installing HP’s cdrom. What annoys me is that because the scanner has produced two succesful scans using the VueScan software, it shows that the scanner is in full-working order but HP in their infinite wisdom say that it is no longer supported and worse, they don’t even fista the legacy drivers available on their website.
The HP Tech Support informed me that no driver exist for Windows Vista, and that there are no plans to create one in the future.
After getting a succesful scan and saving, I can’t then scan a second, separate document without powering down both scanner and PC again – so hadly a workable solution. Good thing I tested using the VM, rather than go straight for a live install! Rightclick on the Scanjet it should be visible when you plug in the USB cable for the scanner, but it will have an explanation mark then select to update driver software.
